‘Patient acuity and volumes’ force emergency department interruption at Chetwynd Hospital [Video]

CHETWYND –The emergency department at the Chetwynd Hospital and Health Centre is experiencing another diversion today.

The ER was closed shortly after 10:00 a.m. on September 12th, 2024, and is expected to reopen at 1:00 p.m.

Northern Health says the unexpected closure is due to high patient acuity and volumes.

“Chetwynd and area residents are advised of an unexpected Emergency Department service interruption at Chetwynd Hospital due to patient acuity and volumes,” said Northern Health in a notice posted to Facebook.

Patients in need of life-threatening emergency care are advised to call 9-1-1 for ambulance transport to the nearest available hospital.
