Students at Portage Collegiate Institute have access to plenty of different courses that allow them to try their hand at various careers.

One of those programs allows them to get a more in-depth look at television news.

Shane Sobkowich, who has been leading the program since before the COVID Pandemic, says it’s something that they’re glad to have running full time.

“It started getting revved up right before COVID, that’s when it became a thing. And then, of course, because of COVID, there were so many courses that were no more, they had to be axed because we couldn’t offer as many at the time because of seating and rooms. So, it took a bit of a hiatus that year and then we brought it back full force and that’s when I got full-time into the program and was able to do a lot more with it.”
