Powhatan County Public Schools has announced the appointment of George Albert as the new Director of Transportation, effective Dec. 3.

Albert brings with him a 39-year career in transportation and logistics, having recently retired from United Parcel Service (UPS). Starting with the company in 1985 as a loader and unloader at the age of 18, Albert’s dedication and leadership saw his career progress through the years, retiring in the role of Transportation Manager.

In the various roles Albert held, his responsibilities included overseeing logistics, fleet management, staffing, new software implementation and support, training, budgeting, safety compliance, and dispatch operations.

A Powhatan resident since 2004, Albert is deeply familiar with the community, having raised his two sons here, both of whom graduated from Powhatan High School. His extensive background in dispatching, logistics, and fleet management, paired with his experience as a driver training instructor, makes him distinctively qualified to lead the …
