A pedestrian is dead after being struck by the driver of a tow truck in Toronto’s north-west end on Monday night.
The crash happened on Weston Road, near Rogers Road.
Toronto Police Service (TPS) said they were called to that area shortly before 7 p.m. for a personal injury motor vehicle collision.
In a news release, TPS said a 24-year-old man driving a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado tow truck northbound on Weston Road in the left turning lane collided with a male pedestrian who was standing in the center lane on Weston Road, waiting to cross the road.
The pedestrian then hit a 2021 Rav 4, which was being driven southbound on Weston Road by a 55-year-old woman. The vehicle was travelling in the far left lane, police said.
Speaking to the media near the scene on Monday night, Duty Insp. Brian Maslowski said officers arrived at the scene and immediately began performing life-saving measures before paramedics arrived.
