Pedestrian dies after being struck by car on N.J. city street, police say [Video]

A pedestrian died Thursday after he was hit by a car in New Brunswick, authorities said.

The man, identified Thursday night as 38-year-old New Brunswick resident Jarred Boyer, was struck on Townsend Street by an unidentified 32-year-old driver around 12:40 a.m., according to a joint statement from the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and the New Brunswick Police Department.

Boyer was seriously injured and was taken to Robert Wood Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

No other information was released as the incident was still under investigation by the agencies.

Anyone with information or surveillance footage of the area was asked to call the department at 732-745-5200 or Detective McGarry of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-745-3140.
