A 60-year-old woman from Moncton, N.B., died Friday from injuries sustained in a collision with a vehicle as a pedestrian on New Year’s Eve.

RCMP believe the woman was struck by a vehicle while walking to her vehicle because the driver did not see her, said a Saturday news release.

Codiac Regional RCMP responded to the collision when it was reported on Tuesday at approximately 10:48 p.m. at a business on Mountain Road in Moncton.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious injuries said the release. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was not injured.

Members of the Moncton Fire Department and Ambulance New Brunswick attended the scene.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist and a member of the New Brunswick coroner’s office are assisting with the ongoing RCMP investigation.
