CHICO, Calif. – A People’s March was held in Chico Saturday in remembrance of Martin Luther King Jr. Also, it was a march in solidarity for womens’ rights and other social justice issues.

This Martin Luther King Jr. weekend people conducted People’s Marches across the country and in Poland, Italy, Canada and Mexico.

Action News Now reporter Sade Pullen met Amanda Welvaert at the event. She said, ”We’re here to stand up for our rights. Women’s rights are human rights.” 

Angela Silva was the lead coordinator for the Chico People’s March. She said the Women’s March Chico group joined with the People’s March, We Are Worth Fighting, Catalyst, the Black Resiliency Project, the Democratic Action Club of Chico and other groups to organize the march and rally.
