Sarah Lang teaches kids at Our Village School in Lakeville about other cultures and countries by whipping up dishes that are native to that country.

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — A local chef believes kids learn better if the lesson plan sticks to their ribs a bit. 

Sarah Lang of Savage is a personal chef and cookbook author, who developed a curriculum that she uses at Our Village School in Lakeville. There, she teaches kids about other cultures by cooking dishes that are native to that country, along with practicing some words in a native language, listening to songs and talking about local customs. 

Lang took things one step further when she turned that curriculum into a book called “The Passport to Cooking Cookbook.” It’s currently available on Amazon. You can also learn more by visiting her “A Simple Kitchen” website.
