A fire shut down part of Highway 401 in Ontario on Sunday.
Ontario Provincial Police spokesperson Martyn Curran told INsauga.com that the blaze was reported at around 4:45 p.m. on Highway 401 westbound between Shannonville and Marysville roads, which is east of Belleville.
A truck driver noticed that the back of his trailer was on fire.
“The vehicle was unable to fully exit the highway and as a result, the 401 westbound was closed for about 25 minutes before the fire was extinguished and a lane was reopened to through traffic,” Curran said.
“While I can’t confirm the cause of the fire, it has been my experience that these are typically caused by brake-related issues.”
The tractor wasn’t damaged in the incident.
No injuries were reported.
