PHOTOS: Impaired trucker hits overpass making mess of Ontario highway, police say [Video]

Police have charged a trucker with impaired driving after crashing into an overpass and dumping debris onto a busy Ontario highway.

The collision happened on Sunday when the OPP says officers from Niagara and Burlington detachments were called to a stretch of Queen Elizabeth Way shortly before 12:30 p.m.

Police say the driver was headed southbound on the QEW in a tractor-trailer when they struck the Lundy’s Lane overpass in Niagara. Photos shared by investigators shows the right side of the trailer had been almost entirely torn away, scattering the contents and debris all over the road.

That’s when police say the driver of another vehicle struck the debris but added that no one was injured in the crash.

Police closed the QEW for around 10 hours while cleanup was underway, and the 26-year-old tractor-trailer driver was charged with an impaired driving-related offence.
