If Clark Kent needed a payphone booth to transform into Superman, he would have a hard time finding one in Mississauga or across Canada.

There are still a few of the old phone booths around but with the prevalence of cell phones, they are on the decline.

“Payphone use has declined significantly over the past many years due to the growth of wireless services, but Bell continues to operate 344 pay phones in Mississauga,” a Bell Canada spokesperson told INsauga.com.

They are mostly located in high-traffic areas like transit points, malls, and health and public service facilities including Toronto Pearson International Airport, the spokesperson said.

A recent look at outdoor payphone booths in Mississauga turned up two working phones. Indoor payphones are more likely to be operational.
