Political chaos that has gripped Pickering city hall for more than a year is deepening amid an OPP investigation and the mayor’s unprecedented decision to halt in-person council meetings over fears of intimidation and disruption — with first virtual-only committee being held on Monday.

At the centre of the storm is Lisa Robinson who, since she was elected Ward 1 councillor in 2022, has become a hero of far-right figures for opposing Pride events, denouncing Black History Month, and accusing council colleagues and city staff of corruption and free speech suppression.
