As police in several Ontario communities investigate a recent rash of pickup truck thefts, one of the stolen vehicles was recently recovered in Montreal just as it was about to be shipped overseas.
Guelph Police say thieves have been targeting Toyota Tundra pickups in recent months in that city. Thefts and attempted thefts of that model of pickup have also spiked in the Waterloo area and beyond going back to last year, according to police there.
The latest of the stolen vehicles from Guelph, a green 2024 Tundra taken from the driveway of its owner early last Wednesday morning, was found abandoned later that day in Mississauga.
Police said in a news release on Tuesday a black 2024 Tundra pickup stolen from Guelph in February was recently found at the Port of Montreal as it was about to be shipped out of the country.
