Plant-Based Milk Listeriosis Outbreak : 2 Deaths Reported [Video]

The Public Health Agency of Canada reported two deaths linked to a listeriosis outbreak connected to certain Silk and Great Value plant-based milks. The recall affects refrigerated oat, almond, and coconut beverages after potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. Since August 2023, 12 cases have been identified across Ontario, Quebec, and Nova Scotia. Health officials are urging consumers to check their fridges for affected products. The sick individuals, aged 37 to 89, are primarily women. Danone Canada, the manufacturer of the recalled drinks, expressed condolences to the affected families and stated they are investigating the matter.
