People will be plunging into Lake Ontario Sunday for Olcott’s Polar Bear Swim for Sight event.

OLCOTT, N.Y. — On Sunday, Mar. 2 folks will be braving the cold waters of Lake Ontario for a good cause.

The Olcott Lions Club has hosted the annual Polar Bear Swim for Sight for over 56-years now. 

“Swimmers and spectators come together to spend a day enjoying the beauty of the southern shores of Lake Ontario in one of the nicest maritime communities on the Great Lakes who, during the summer months have several festivals like the Pirate Festival, Mermaid, Festivals, and the Olcott Polar Bear 5K run to name a few. There will be plenty to see and do for the entire family.” the Olcott Lions Club said.

Those participating in the swim are highly encouraged to dress in fun costumes and put together teams for the festivities.
