Police officers responded to a man allegedly armed with a crossbow in Hamilton, Ontario.
Police reports state that on Jan. 28 around 11 am, officers with a division of the Hamilton High Enforcement Action Team (HEAT) spotted a vehicle operating that was committing a traffic-related offence.
Police then proceeded to follow the suspect to an encampment near Birch Avenue and witnessed a male carrying a wooden crossbow (complete with bolts) walk up to the vehicle.
Police then mobilized and proceeded to arrest both the male in the vehicle they were pursuing as well as the male suspect allegedly armed with the crossbow.
Upon his arrest, it was revealed that the male armed with a crossbow was in violation of a weapons and probation order.
The 34-year-old was then charged with the following:
- Possession contrary to order
- Failure to comply with probation order (two counts)
The first initial suspect — who was driving the vehicle — was not charged with any traffic/highway-related offences.
