A Police Service Dog was stabbed during an incident in Richmond on Wednesday morning.
Richmond RCMP said they were called at 2:28 a.m. to a rural farmland home in the south east of No. 4 Rd and Westminster Highway.
Officers found a man in distress but during the encounter the man produced and randomly discharged an airgun as well as stabbed the dog.
The police dog, known as Rebel, sustained multiple puncture wounds and was transported for emergency veterinary care, which is ongoing. Following the initial assessment, the dog remains stable and recovery appears favourable.
The man was taken into custody at 7:35 a.m.
