Police nab pair of impaired ‘novice’ Brampton drivers within hours on Ontario roads [Video]

Two rookie drivers from Brampton have been arrested and charged following a failed checkstop and a crash within hours of each other in Caledon.

The first arrest happened shortly before midnight on Friday while officers with the Caledon OPP were working a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) checkstop in the area of Mclaughin Road and Tim Manley Avenue.

That’s when police say the driver of a vehicle tried to avoid the checkpoint and was stopped by police a short distance away.

While speaking to the 44-year-old driver from Brampton, police say they discovered the man was under a graduated licence and was impaired by alcohol.

Officers also found an undisclosed amount of cannabis and cocaine during the investigation, police say.
