Police officer assaulted during break and enter investigation [Video]

Three people are facing a lengthy list of charges after a break and enter investigation led to a Regina police officer being assaulted Tuesday night.

According to a Regina police news release, officers were called to the 1100 block of Cameron Street around 8 p.m. for the report of a break and enter where three suspects were seen attempting to enter a house through a window before fleeing the scene in a vehicle.

The release says officers located the suspect vehicle travelling south on Cameron Street and pulled it over.

“As officers approached the vehicle, the driver exited and attempted to evade on foot. Despite several commands to stop, the suspect did not comply and swung at the arresting officer. A struggle ensued, leading the officer to sustain a wrist injury,” the release said.

Police said a loaded gun was also found inside the vehicle.
