Police officer charged with dangerous driving after a crash in Ontario [Video]

An Ontario police officer faces dangerous driving charges.

The OPP said they were contacted to investigate a two-vehicle collision in Thunder Bay that happened on Feb. 29, 2024.

An on-duty Thunder Bay Police officer driving a police vehicle was involved in the crash, OPP said.

Thunder Bay Police asked the OPP to investigate the incident on July 2.

On Monday, April 28, police charged Peter Haase, 37, of Thunder Bay, with dangerous operation of a vehicle.

Haase is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on May 28.

Haase has been suspended with pay, according to news reports.

In 2023, Haase pled guilty to discreditable conduct and unlawful or unnecessary use of force in connection to an interaction with an Indigenous man. The interaction was captured on video and released to the public.
