Police officer injured in shooting in Rahway, New Jersey [Video]

RAHWAY, N.J. (WABC) — A Perth Amboy police detective was shot up to three times while executing a search warrant in Rahway Wednesday night.

The officer was serving the warrant with Rahway police in front of 1076 Broad Street when he was shot just before 8:50 p.m.

He was struck in the legs and taken Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick in stable condition.

Two other people were injured, including the suspected gunman, who was shot in the leg.

That alleged gunman was with others when police approached them and he opened fire on the officers as they ran.

Rahway’s mayor later posted on Facebook that “all suspects are in custody.”

No other officers were injured.

Six police officers have been shot in New Jersey in the past seven months. Most recently, an NYPD officer and a Woodbridge police officer were both struck by gunfire in Woodbridge last month.
