In 2013, a flood devastated much of southern Alberta, including the residential areas around Cougar Creek in Canmore. The creek has been mostly closed for the past decade while new flood mitigation infrastructure was being installed. News broke this week that the project is complete and Cougar Creek is open once again.
The Town of Canmore said, “The wait is over! Cougar Creek Canyon reopens Dec. 21.What to Know Before You Go: For your safety, stay out of closed areas, and note that the site may be under surveillance. We know it’s been a long four years, and we’re so grateful for your patience and understanding. There may be short-term closures next year as crews finish landscaping, signage, and other final touches.” Stay up to date here.
