Postal workers will rally against ‘major changes’ at Canada Post across Ontario [Video]

Postal workers across Canada will hold rallies this weekend to speak out about “major changes” to Canada Post, including protests in Brampton and Hamilton.

The protests are part of a nationwide day of action on Saturday, where Canada Post employees with the Canadian Union of Postal Workers say they’ll push back against “proposals for service and job cuts.”

An ongoing labour dispute has seen threats of a postal worker strike and a ban on overtime hours, which Canada Post says is impacting deliveries.

Canada Post presented its “final offers” to the union representing 55,000 workers earlier this week, with concessions including an end to compulsory overtime and a signing bonus of up to $1,000.

But it stuck to a proposal for a 14 per cent cumulative wage hike over four years and part-time staff on weekend shifts — a major sticking point in the talks.
