MORGANTOWN, W.Va (WDTV) – It’s nearing the end of a long chapter at West Virginia University. Dr. E. Gordon Gee, the university’s president, is set to relieve his position on July 15th.
But Gee isn’t just another face that comes and goes. In fact, he’s already gone and come back.
Gee was also at WVU in 1981 as the university’s 19th president, serving until he left for the University of Colorado in 1985. From there, Gee made his presidential mark on Ohio State twice, Brown and Vanderbilt. But the Vernal, Utah native just couldn’t ditch the Mountaineer culture he came accustomed to in the ‘80s.
Although one wears bowties and another buckskins, both Gee and the Mountaineer are synonymous with the culture in Morgantown and the entire state of West Virginia.
