At the Presidio Port of Entry, 748 lbs. of bologna and 280 boxes of undeclared prescription medications were seized.
PRESIDIO, Texas — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized 748 lbs. of bologna and over 280 boxes of undeclared prescription medications on Monday at the Presidio Port of Entry around 4 p.m.
The prohibited meat as well as the medications were discovered in a 2023 GMC Yukon that arrived from Mexico.
According to a CBP press release, the agriculture specialists searched the vehicle and removed several suitcases.
“The suitcases seemed heavier than normal,” the release stated.
The agriculture specialists opened one suitcase and found 40 rolls of bologna inside.
“The concern with pork products is that they have the potential to introduce foreign animal diseases that can have devastating effects to the U.S. economy and to our agriculture industry,” CBP Presidio Port Director Benito Reyes, Jr said.
