Police in Prince George, B.C., are investigating an arson at the weigh scale facility on Highway 97, and are calling on the public for assistance.
Prince George RCMP received a report of a blaze at the facility around 6:20 a.m. on Christmas Eve, Mounties said in a release issued Friday.
The facility, located south of the city, determines the weight and measurements of commercial vehicles to confirm their compliance with the correct procedures, laws, regulations and permits.
The release said officers responding to the fire Dec. 24 noted two pickup trucks leaving the area, but couldn’t obtain the license plate numbers at the time.
An orange spray paint graffiti marking the words “good job McCreadie” was also noted, left behind on a sea-can close to the blaze, police said.
Weigh scales employees confirmed to police the vandalism hadn’t been at the site the day before the fire.
