A man identified by a police department in Ontario as a “prolific offender” has been arrested again just hours after he was released from custody.

Police in Waterloo Region say the man has since been charged with multiple property crime offences in Kitchener as part of ongoing crime suppression efforts.

According to Waterloo Regional Police, members of the department’s Crime Suppression, Analysis and Response (CSAR) Unit arrested a man after he attempted to enter parked vehicles. “The male had been released from custody at the Waterloo Region Court House the same day,” police said.

As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old Waterloo male was charged with 11 counts of attempted theft from a motor vehicle and theft under $5,000 from a motor vehicle. Waterloo police typically do not release the names of people charged with a crime.

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
