PRRD to consider ending push for improved communication on hospital diversions [Video]

FORT ST. JOHN –Last year, the Peace Region experienced nearly 50 hospital diversions. In response, the Peace River Regional District (PRRD) has been pushing to better inform residents of service interruptions.

Since August, the PRRD has been sending weekly letters to the premier, health minister, and local MLAs. Now, the board is considering a recommendation to stop sending the letters as parliament is yet to resume following the election.

According to a Director’s Report set to be presented during a board meeting on January 9th, these letters requested that diversions be better advertised in a timely manner without ministry interference.

Since the resolution was passed, there has been a transition of power in both Peace River North and South from former BC United MLA’s Mike Bernier and Dan Davies to BC Conservative’s Larry Neufeld and Jordan Kealy.
