Steinbach city council has moved closer to finalizing two key documents that will guide future decisions. During its latest meeting, council approved the first and second reading of an updated Official Community Plan, which has now been sent to the province for approval before a final council vote. There was a strong turn-out for the open house on January 15th where the public also provided feedback to both documents. The high level of interest carried into the public hearings.

Public hearings were held for both the Official Community Plan and the revised Zoning Bylaw, drawing a significant turnout. Around 40 members of the public attended, including a few from outside the city. Council heard a mix of support and objections, particularly regarding zoning changes related to emergency shelters
