Police are searching for a 31-year-old Quebec woman and an unidentified driver after an officer was struck by their vehicle while they were fleeing an attempted arrest in Oshawa last week.

An officer with Durham Police’s Project Attire Auto Theft Unit was in the plaza at 22 Stevenson Rd. S. at 1:30 p.m. on March 21 when he saw a suspect from a recent auto-theft investigation breaching her release conditions.

The officer attempted to arrest the woman, who fled to a white Mercedes. The suspect got into the front passenger seat and an unknown driver began reversing the vehicle, dragging the officer several metres. The vehicle then struck a parked vehicle and fled the area.

The officer sustained minor injuries.

A warrant has been issued for Assia Ouadria, 31, of Quebec, and investigators are appealing to any witnesses or anyone that may have video surveillance to contact police.
