BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – Cloudy conditions with areas of drizzle and fog will continue through early evening.

Our next round of moisture will arrive as a secondary low develops in the Gulf of Maine and passes over Downeast communities as it moves into New Brunswick. Initially rain showers will spread across the region after sunset, but as colder air moves in, rain showers will change to snow showers overnight. The heaviest and steadiest precipitation is expected to fall across northern & eastern parts of the state. The farther west you go, the better chance you will have of remaining dry.

Temperatures will also be dropping quickly after midnight. This will increase the risk of a flash freeze meaning any wet surfaces will quickly ice over and will make for slippery conditions into Friday morning. Overnight lows will range from the mid-teens in the north to the upper 20s closer to …
