FORT NELSON –The RCMP are actively investigating a series of suspected arson incidents in Fort Nelson.
The Northern Rockies Regional Municipality has confirmed that an investigation is underway following two recent fires in the area.
The first fire occurred on Willow Road, with emergency crews arriving at the scene just before 5:00 a.m. on September 26. Later that evening, around 10:30 p.m., firefighters responded to a second fire at the Villers Trailer Park.
No one was home at the time, and no injuries have been reported in either incident.
Fire Chief James Childs said that both fires are considered suspicious.
The incidents follow several other fires this month, including one at Aurora Manor.
The severity of these fires prompted the Office of the Fire Commissioner to establish a provincial accelerant detection K9 team, known as ‘ADK9T,’ to assist Northern Rockies Fire and the RCMP in detecting accelerants to determine …
