Health Canada has recalled a battery pack sold on Amazon, warning of a fire hazard.

Officials said that the Chinese-made vacuum battery product can overheat, “posing a risk of fire and burns.”

As of Jan. 8, the company has received six reports of fire, including property damage, in Canada, officials said.

There have been no reports of injury.

The affected product is the Powerextra 4000mAh V6 Battery Replacement for Portable Vacuums.

“The battery manufacturer claims the product is compatible with Dyson V6 series vacuum cleaners DC58, DC59, DC61, DC62, Animal, DC72, DC74, SV03, SV04, SV05, and SV06,” the recall notice said.

“The Powerextra battery packs are not a Dyson or Dyson authorized product.”

If someone has the battery pack, they were advised to immediately stop using it and dispose of it according to municipal guidelines, as batteries are considered hazardous waste.

It shouldn’t be placed in household garbage.
