There were 10,712 of the products sold in Canada from April 2024 to May of this year.

“There is a risk of small metal pieces detaching during use, posing an ingestion hazard,” Health Canada said.

“As of June 9, 2025, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. Globally, the company received three reports of incidents detailing minor injuries, such as a scratch or a splinter to the hand.”

Consumers were advised to not use the garlic press and return it to IKEA for a refund.

IKEA said a receipt is not required.
