A shampoo product sold in Canada has been pulled from shelves.

Health Canada said in a recall notice that consumers should immediately stop using the product and return it to where it was bought in order to get a refund.

“The product may be contaminated with Plurabacter gergoviae which presents a microbial hazard,” the notice said.

“Plurabacter gergoviae poses little medical risk to healthy individuals. Individuals with certain health problems or compromised immune systems are at an increased risk of infection if they use the contaminated product.”

The affected product is the U.S.-made amika Mirrorball High Shine + Protect Antioxidant Shampoo.

Health Canada said that as of Jan. 27, the company has received 48 reports of foul odor in Canada and two reports of irritation or allergic reaction.

Around 95,000 units were sold in Canada from may 2023 to November 2024.
