A Red Deer RCMP member is accused of accessing and sending “intimate images” from a detained person’s phone without consent.

Const. Matthew Villeneuve was charged on Dec. 12 with breach of trust and transferring intimate images without consent.

He allegedly accessed the files on Nov. 23, 2023, while the person was receiving treatment at the Red Deer Hospital.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) was directed to investigate five days later.

Villeneuve was released and is scheduled to appear in court in Red Deer in February.
