The political landscape in Brampton didn’t change overnight.
With the results tallied from the provincial election, all five Progressive Conservative incumbents were returned to office and their party secured another majority government that will run Ontario.
The victories for the local PC’s seemed assured right from the start as all five candidates jumped to early leads as the polls closed and watched as the gap widened between their closest competitors as the night unfolded.
Brampton Centre proved to be one of the most interesting races during the campaign. It saw incumbent Conservative MPP Charmaine Williams fend off her former city council colleague Liberal Martin Medeiros.
The final count shows that Williams won the election by 4,368 vote margin.
Williams was the former Brampton city councillor for Ward 7 and 8. Medeiros is the current sitting councillor for Brampton’s Wards 3 and 4.
