A Whitby ride-share driver is facing charges after a passenger was sexually assaulted, police say.

The suspect was driving a red Mitsubishi (Ontario plate CZKL 975) when he picked up a woman passenger who sat in the front passenger seat. Police said the man then “touched her inappropriately.”

The date of the alleged offence wasn’t revealed but Durham Police said its Central West Criminal Investigations Branch wrapped an investigation into a sexual assault May 3.

Paul Sundaramahesam, 43, is charged with sexual assault.

He was released on an Undertaking.

Police are concerned there may be more victims.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact D/Cst. Marchand of the Central West Criminal Investigations Branch at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1829.
