For drivers involved in a vehicle crash in Halton this weekend, police say that they are experiencing a high volume of in-person collision reports, with reporting centres no longer accepting walk-ins.

The last few days have seen snow, rain, and cold temperatures resulting in slippery and icy conditions across the region, which could be a contributing factor in the rise of vehicle crashes.

In November 2024, Halton Regional Police warned of an expected rise in winter collisions and provided guidelines for drivers on what to do after a crash.

To help manage the surge, police introduced ‘Start from Your Device,’ an online tool that allows drivers to complete 85 per cent of their collision report before arriving at a reporting centre. The feature is designed to reduce wait times at centers in Milton, Oakville and Burlington.”
