A man in his 60s has died after he was hit by a pickup truck in northeast Calgary on Thursday.

It happened at the intersection of 32nd Avenue and 52nd Street N.E., around 10:30 a.m.

Police say the truck driver was stopped for a red light when the man started crossing the road.

While the man was still crossing, the light turned green, police say, and the truck driver proceeded and ended up hitting the pedestrian.

The man was transported to Foothills Medical Centre in critical condition, where he later died.

The truck driver remained at the scene after the crash.

Investigation continues and anyone with dash-cam or CCTV video from the area is asked to contact police at 403-266-1234.

Those wishing to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
