Ukraine’s state hydropower company said on Friday that Russia had struck the country’s largest dam, the Dnipro hydroelectric station in Zaporizhzhia, but there was no risk of a breach. Footage showed flames and smoke billowing from the dam after Moscow launched its largest assault on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. In an acerbic post this morning responding to the attack, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, the Ukrainian president, said: ‘Russian missiles have no delays, unlike aid packages for Ukraine.’
