BRUNSWICK, Ohio — Students at Saint Ambrose Catholic School in Brunswick had an out-of-this-world experience on Thursday.

Thanks to NASA, they had a chance to hear from the astronauts aboard the International Space Station. Euclid native Suni Williams, along with Nick Hague and Butch Wilmore, answered over 20 prerecorded questions about what it is like to live and work in space.

Aela, a second grader, asked the astronauts how do they not float away during a spacewalk?

“We have tethers,” Hague explained. “This is a waist tether. We connect it to our spacesuit, and then I can put this on handrails that are on the outside of the space station.”

The students were inspired to explore science after the conversation. The questions the kids enjoyed the most were about everyday life on the space station.
