They say the world is your oyster, and the streets are your stating rink – or at least they are in this Saskatchewan community.

A recent bout of freezing rain in southeastern Saskatchewan recently had kids in Weyburn making the best of a slippery situation.

With the streets covered in ice, 12-year-old Aiden Donison and 11-year-old Josh Gill laced up their skates and grabbed their hockey sticks and took to the ice, on their neighbourhood street.

“We were loving it. When we found out that there was a video, we were saying we’d be happy with 1,000 views,” Gill said.

The video on social media has gained over 100,000 views and has prompted quite a bit of attention around the two boys.

The pair said they got the idea after a family member mentioned seeing a similar video online, and they wanted to put it to the test. The makeshift …
