A 50-year-old man from Prince Albert, reported missing on Christmas Eve, was found dead Wednesday.

Orlando Okemaysim was last seen on Dec. 24 in Sturgeon Lake First Nation. His family began searching for him on Boxing Day.

Alongside his family, RCMP and Sturgeon Lake community members searched for him about two weeks. As temperatures dipped last week, they escalated their search, calling on anyone nearby with snowmobiles, ATVs or horses to check the surrounding area.

Okemaysim’s family told CTV News he had poor vision and wasn’t dressed for the cold when he was last seen.

On Wednesday, the Saskatchewan RCMP confirmed Okemaysim had been found dead. Police say his family has been notified.

RCMP don’t consider the death suspicious, and the investigation has been handed over to the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.
