Saskatchewan’s new provincial police force is preparing to launch this year and has already begun interviewing Mounties for the open jobs.

Critics say the move highlights concerns over job poaching.

Chief Marshal Robert Cameron of the Saskatchewan Marshals Service says the force has received interest from across the country for its positions, including officers and Mounties from Saskatchewan.

National Police Federation president Brian Sauve fears hiring RCMP officers would remove resources from communities that are already understaffed.
