Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued freezing rain warnings Sunday which span most of Saskatchewan’s southeast corner.
According to the national weather service, a pocket of warm air aloft, combined with falling precipitation and sub-freezing temperatures has resulted in freezing rain warnings – which span from Weyburn to Yorkton through to Russell, Man.
Other communities within the warning area include Weyburn, Estevan, Moosomin and Esterhazy.
ECCC forecasts that the precipitation will begin tapering off Sunday afternoon.
“Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Slow down driving in slippery conditions,” the warning for the city of Estevan read.
“Watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.”
