The Saskatoon airport is bustling as holiday travelers embark on journeys to see loved ones or head off on vacation.

This is the busiest time of year for the airport, which handles over 1,000 additional passengers daily during the season.

“Essentially, it’s all about a seamless journey here at the airport,” said Stephen Maybury, CEO of the Saskatoon Airport Authority. “These are peak travel times for the airport, seeing upwards of 5,000 passengers per day coming through.”

The holiday crowd includes a variety of travelers, from those heading home to reunite with family to others embarking on special trips.

“I’m headed to Edmonton for the holidays, just finished work at the mine here,” said one traveler.

One father, saving all year for a dream trip, was taking his daughters to Disney World.

“We’re going to be in Universal and Disney. Hopefully, it will be worth it. Happy holidays!” he said.
