Saskatoon crews searching river for body of missing man [Video]

Saskatoon police and firefighters have begun searching the South Saskatchewan River for the body of a 48-year-old man who went missing late last month.

Derek Sarazin was last seen at his residence on Nov. 22 around 4 p.m., according to a Saskatoon Police Service news release. Sarazin was known to enjoy walks along the river, and police say his family believed he may have been in a vulnerable state when he left.

On Monday, police said their investigation led them to believe Sarazin may be in the river, and they don’t believe foul play was involved.

Crews began a coordinated search of the river from the University Bridge to just north of the railway bridge, Saskatoon police said in a news release Monday afternoon.
