Saskatoon police investigate city’s 15th homicide [Video]

Major crime and forensic investigators are searching for evidence in what’s been deemed Saskatoon’s 15th homicide of the year.

In a news release just after 11 p.m. Wednesday night, the Saskatoon Police Service said officers were investigating a homicide on the 1700 block of 22nd Street West.

Police say no further details are being released at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.

The killing brings the number of homicides in the city to a near record high, based on Statistics Canada data from 1981 to 2023.

There were 16 homicides in Saskatoon in both 2019 and 2022, with the city’s homicide rate reaching a record of 4.85 per 100,000 people in 2019.
