Scam targets Costco customers in Ontario [Video]

A scam targeting Costco customers is making the rounds in Ontario.

The scam arrives in a text message telling the recipient they are eligible for a cash reward.

“We’re excited to inform you that your 2% cash reward is now available for redemption!” the message reads. ” This reward has been calculated based on your purchases since the activation of your Costco Membership.”

The text message then prompts the recipient to click a legitimate-looking link.

Costco has a warning about this particular scam on its website.

“There is a text scam circulating that asks members to click on a link to claim their 2% Executive Member reward,” Costco says on its website.

“The text is a SCAM. Costco does not send text messages with respect to the 2% Executive Reward,” Costco says.
